ONE OFF EVENT
BUS SITE SPECIFIC PROJECT – UPCOMING
Driftopia is a site specific project set up inside the bus.
The passengers get into the bus and take a seat. A cloud of fog surrounds them. The bus-cloud will deliver them to the “utopian symposium”. The dense cloud covers the passengers’ view until the end of the trip.
Using a fog-machine we create an environment able to generate a sort of physical experience to lose, to shift, to expand the spatiality (utopia) and the temporality (ucronia). Based on a blinded, displaced and collective experience the passengers are delivered from a state to another: not to reach a golden island but to drift through an ephemeral and cathartical island of fog.
The work is inspired by “The Clouds” of Aristofanes.
SOCRATES: They are the Clouds of heaven, great goddesses for the lazy; to them we owe all, thoughts, speeches, trickery, roguery, boasting, lies, sagacity. […]
STREPSIADES: Ah! that was why, as I listened to them, my mind spread out its wings; it burns to babble about trifles, to maintain worthless arguments. […]
SOCRATES: But what you certainly do not know is that they are the support of a crowd of quacks! […]
